SPECIAL BLOG – Hong Kong Phooey MIA !

The only black spot on an otherwise fantastic day was the loss of our 12 inch “Hong Kong Phooey” cuddly toy from which we took the costume idea (ears and all !). We covered over 1000 kms with him tied to the front of the tuk-tuk and he helped us explain on many, many, many interactions with Sri Lankans throughout our challenge today what two grown men were doing wearing shiny red suits, furry ears and a mask.

At times through the Lanka Challenge we’ve been mistaken for and called Karate fighters, Ninja’s, Zorro and even Father Christmas…. (guess which one of the Loonies for that title)

Fearing our mascot would be the pawn in a ransom scenario we took the front foot and employed various interrogation techniques through the day to suss out / quiz / even flat-out accuse fellow teams of the capture of Phooey. However, (rather sadly in such a wonderful and friendly country) it would seem we may well have been the victims of an old fashioned theft. Here’s hoping there is a little Sri Lankan kid now over the moon that their pop’s brought home a great new toy.
