Day 05 - A well earned rest ...

Day 5 was a designated rest day and the small surfing / fishing town of Arugam Bay was definitely a great choice for a place to kick back and relax. Rather predictably, with the knowledge of a rest day ahead, the evening before saw most teams in the bar into the wee small hours.

So, a late rise and slightly sore heads for the Loonies. The heads were soon cleared by a "swim" in the sea - the surf is very strong here and so "being thrown around like a rag doll" was probably a better explanation.

Heads duly cleared, the day then became a very lazy one, bit of food, walks along the beach and snoozes in the shade. So, now fully refreshed for the 2nd half of the challenge.

Tomorrow sees the official longest leg with 175 km to be covered and an evening camping under the stars in Udawalawe National Park. Back on-line in 2 days time..........
